About WordThanks
Most people know they should send a thank-you note. The part that stops them is the blank card. WordThanks exists to get you past it.
What we do
This site collects thank-you wording for the occasions people actually write for: a dinner someone cooked, a wedding gift, a job interview, a funeral casserole, a teacher who got a kid through a hard year. Every occasion page gives you finished notes you can copy and adapt in a minute, sorted by tone, plus the etiquette context for when a card beats a text and how long you really have before it counts as late.
Alongside the wording there are longer guides on the how and why, a Note Builder for assembling a note from parts, and gift guides for the occasions where thanks comes with a present.
How the wording is written
Every note on this site is written for this site. We do not scrape wording lists or spin other people's examples, and we do not generate pages in bulk and publish them unread.
Each occasion page is built the same way:
- We work out what someone in that situation is actually trying to say, and what they are worried about getting wrong.
- We write the notes as real notes, in a range of tones, from warm and personal to short and formal, because a note to your grandmother and a note to a hiring manager are not the same document.
- We keep the etiquette guidance practical. Timing, whether handwriting matters, what to do when you are late, and what to say when the gift was money or the occasion was a loss.
- Every page is read and edited by a person before it publishes.
When guidance is contested, and plenty of etiquette is, we say so rather than inventing a single rule. When we get something wrong and you tell us, we fix the page.
Who publishes it
WordThanks is published by Frog Stone Media, an independent publisher run by Michael Kahn. It is a small operation rather than a content farm, which is why you can reach a person directly at mike@frogstonemedia.com and get an answer from the person who edits the site.
How the site is funded
WordThanks is free and carries display advertising. Some gift guide links are Amazon affiliate links, which pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. Advertising never buys placement in our wording or our guidance. The full accounting is on the disclosure page.
